Practice Policies
Everything you need to know before your visit
Cancellation & No-Show Policy
We require 24 hours notice for cancellations. A fee of R350 or full charge applies to late cancellations and no-shows.
We understand that unexpected circumstances arise. However, to ensure fair access to appointments for all our patients, we ask that you provide at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule.
Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, or where the patient does not arrive (no-show), may be subject to a cancellation fee of R350 or charged in full.
Emergency cancellations due to illness or genuine emergencies are handled with compassion — please call us as soon as possible.

Referral & Booking Policy
We accept self-referrals for private and medical aid patients. Some schemes may require a GP referral letter.
Mphaga Podiatric Services is a specialist podiatric practice. While we accept self-referrals for private (cash) and medical aid patients, some medical aids may require a valid General Practitioner (GP) referral letter for specialist visits to be covered.
Please ensure your referral letter: is dated within the last 3 months, specifies the condition or reason for referral, and includes your GP's practice number and contact details.
You may upload your referral letter during online registration or bring a printed copy to your appointment. Walk-in emergency consultations are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
For second-opinion consultations, a referral from another specialist is preferred but not always required — please contact us to discuss your situation.

Payment & Medical Aid Policy
We accept major medical aid schemes. A levy of R500 applies to all medical aid payments. Co-payments are due on the day of consultation.
Mphaga Podiatric Services accepts most major South African medical aid schemes including Discovery Health, Momentum Health, Bonitas, GEMS, FedHealth, and more. Please confirm your scheme's coverage before your appointment.
Please note: There is a levy of R500 charged on all medical aid payments.
Co-payments and scheme shortfalls are payable on the day of your consultation. We accept card payments (Visa, Mastercard), EFT, and cash. We do not accept cheques.
For medical aid claims, we require your medical aid card, membership number, and member ID at every visit. Pre-authorisation is the patient's responsibility — however, we will assist with the necessary clinical codes where possible.
Private (self-pay) patients receive a detailed invoice on the day. Payment plans are available for surgical procedures — please speak to our billing team.
